Description
16 and 17 The Hamlet are a pair of semi-detached cottages built in the mid-19th century, forming part of a group of 17 cottages along both sides of the road. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a triple-Roman tile roof with three gabled half-dormers and two paired diagonally-set moulded brick ridge stacks, showcasing a Vernacular Revival style. The cottages have one-unit plans with rear additions and are single-storey with attics, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. The ground-floor includes 2-light, 2-pane casement windows set under segmental arches. The larger central dormer has a 3-light window above a slightly recessed panel, which is adorned with a timber lintel and flanked by timber columns beside 20th-century doors. The side elevations feature single-storey canted bays with hipped stone slate roofs. The interior has not been inspected.
