Description
A row of four cottages located in Hermitage Street, Crewkerne, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of limestone rubble with Ham Hill stone architraves around the doors. They feature stepped stone coping to the right gable end and a continuous pantile roof with brick stacks on the party walls and right gable. The cottages have a double-depth plan.
The cottages are two storeys high, with each having a single-window range, except for number 30, which has a symmetrical two-window facade. The windows are 3-light casements set beneath flat, gauged stone arches. Windows in numbers 36 and on the ground floor of number 34 are 20th-century 2-light casements. Each cottage to the left has a door on the right side, while number 30 has a small, slightly canted single-storey bay to the right, with four rows of five small panes of glass in the front. The interiors were not inspected.
