Description
No 50 is a cottage located in a row on The Borough, dating from the 16th century. It features a rendered timber-frame construction with a thatched roof and a brick stack. The cottage has a baffle-entry design and consists of one storey and an attic, with three windows. On the left side, there is a four-panelled door, and to the right, there is a 20th-century door. The left side also has one 2-light casement window, while the right side has two 20th-century casements. The gable of the cross wing on the left includes one 2-light casement, and the right side has an eyebrow dormer with one 2-light casement. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing featuring 20th-century metal casements. Inside, the cottage has an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel supported by brick jambs. It is suggested that the cottage may have originally been designed as an open-hall plan.
