Description
No 7 is a detached cottage located in Sherrington, dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a thatched roof with half-hips and an axial brick stack. The building has a baffle entry plan and is single storey with an attic.
The front façade includes a 20th-century planked door with a flat wooden hood positioned to the right of center, flanked by a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement on either side. There are two brick eyebrow dormers, each containing two-light casements. The left side of the cottage has a single-light 20th-century casement and a two-light casement on the attic floor made of chalk block. The right side features a three-light casement and a single-light casement on the ground floor, along with a 20th-century attic casement.
At the rear, there is a lean-to extension on the left and a three-light casement on the right, along with a dormer that has a two-light casement. Inside, the east room contains a deep chamfered beam with jewel stops and an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel set on chamfered stone jambs. The west room also has an open fireplace, which features a renewed lintel on stone jambs and includes a bread oven.
