Description
Rectory Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and flint, with some chalk block, and features a thatched roof with brick stacks. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has a two-window east front. The entrance includes a planked door set within a 20th-century porch, flanked by two-light casements on either side and a single-light casement to the right. To the left, there is a 20th-century altered bay that is rendered and has casements. The cottage also has two eyebrow dormers, each with 2-light casements. The right return gable end wall is made of chalk block and features a Victorian posting box set into the wall. The rear, facing the road, has two 2-light casements on the ground floor and three eyebrow dormers with 2-light casements; the left two are made of chalk, while the right one is a 20th-century addition. The left return has two 2-light casements on the ground floor. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered lintel on stone jambs, along with a bread oven that has an unusual wooden door.
