Description

The Vine House is a detached house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and extensions added in the 1970s. It is constructed of dressed limestone and has a stone slate roof with coped verges and stone stacks. The original part of the house is two storeys with an attic, and has a three-window front. The centre of the front features a 20th-century glazed door, flanked by a four-light 20th-century mullioned window to the right and a three-light window to the left. French windows are present in a 20th-century left-hand bay, while the first floor has a bull’s eye window above the door, with flanking original 18th-century mullioned casements. A further 20th-century four-light mullioned casement is visible in the left-hand bay. Three gabled dormers, also from the 20th century, are visible in the roof. The right return side features mullioned casements. A 20th-century wing extends to the rear on the left side, incorporating mullioned casements in a matching style. The rear of the original range includes a 20th-century entrance door and a series of 20th-century mullioned casements, along with one original 18th-century mullioned casement to the first floor. The interior has been altered. The house has been significantly altered and extended since its original listing.
