Description
This description is for a pair of lime kilns located approximately 20 meters south of the junction with Windmill Hill in Brixham. The kilns likely date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed from roughly-coursed Devonian limestone rubble. The openings of the kilns feature short straight sides and tall sloping heads that form flat-topped triangles. Inside, the kilns have curved, corbelled interiors, each containing a small blocked opening at the bottom of the back wall. Above each blocked opening, there is a smaller square opening, possibly serving as an air vent; the one on the left is lined with bricks. In front of the kilns, there is a narrow cobbled area.
