Description
The front garden wall and gate located to the north-east of Eveleigh House in Brixham is likely from the mid-19th century. The wall is constructed from stone rubble and features a coping made of stones laid on edge, alternating between short and tall. Facing Greenswood Road, there is a gate framed by large squared blocks of red sandstone and Devonian limestone. The gate has a pointed arch with sides that curve inward, matching the architectural style of Eveleigh House. It includes a plain hoodmould with a shaped cap. The jambs of the gateway extend above the arch to create square piers, with the left pier being overgrown and appearing to have a flat stone cap. The gate itself is a plank door, with its top shaped to follow the curve of the arch.
