Description

These are a pair of lime kilns, likely built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and feature brick arches. The openings face approximately southwest and are set into the hillside. The southwest elevation has two semi-circular headed arches, each about seven feet high, with projecting sandstone keystones. Above these arches, there is a wall about 25 feet high that returns into the hillside, topped by a circular shaft. Inside, there are two flues, one located in each inner corner, leading up to the shaft. The lime kilns are situated within the grounds of Whitfield, which is located in Treville civil parish.
