Description
Lower Jury Farmhouse is a farmhouse that possibly dates back to the 17th century and was remodeled in the late 18th century. It features a timber-frame construction with sandstone rubble, brick, tiled roofs, and brick stacks. The building has a rectangular plan oriented north-east to south-west and includes a cellar, two storeys, and attics.
On the south elevation, there are two sets of three windows, all of which are segmentally-headed, 3-light late 18th century or early 19th century casements. There is also a 2-light casement located above a six-panelled door to the right of the gable front, along with a plastered brick plat band. The north-east gable reveals a small area of exposed timber-framing and is attached to a small two-storey, two-window mid-19th century extension. The north elevation features a massive stone side stack, tallet stairs, and a small 2-light window that is noted in the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England. The interior includes heavy ceiling beams in the principal ground floor rooms.
