Description
Kingstone Grange is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century. It features a sandstone rubble plinth, a timber-frame structure with plaster infill, a Welsh slate roof, and tile hanging, along with external stone stacks topped with detached brick shafts. The building has an E-plan layout with wings extending southeastwards, and it includes a cellar, two storeys, and attics.
The southeast elevation displays a 1:2:1 arrangement of windows, which are 2-light early 20th-century casements. The outer gables have 3-light casements, and there is one casement on the first floor to the left of the central porch, as well as one on each side of the ground floor. The timber-framed porch is supported by moulded timber posts and features a pair of curved struts in the gable, while the entrance door is a 17th-century panelled design. There is a mid-19th-century brick lean-to single-storey extension on the right-hand side.
The timber frame consists of regular square panels, with two on the ground floor and three extending from the first floor to the wall-plate level. Inside, the central hall has 17th-century panelling, the front room of the south wing features early 18th-century panelling, and there is a two-flight early 18th-century dog-leg staircase with turned balusters. Several rooms contain stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
