Description
These outhouses, located approximately 20 meters north of The Mill in Cockington, date from the 19th century and are associated with a water mill. They are constructed from local stone rubble and feature a Roman tile roof. The structure consists of a pair of open-sided sheds with parallel roofs, aligned on a north-west/south-east axis against the boundary wall at the north-west end. The roofs are supported by a series of circular stone rubble piers, which have corbels and slots for timber beams positioned about 1.5 meters above ground level. The roofs are gable-ended, and some piers indicate that the sheds originally extended further to the south-west. Inside, the roofs are supported by low pitch A-frame trusses with collars bolted to the principal beams. These outhouses, along with other buildings associated with The Mill, contribute to a particularly attractive group of listed buildings in the well-preserved village and the nearby Cockington Park.
