Description
This is a c.1830s terraced house located on The Terrace in Torquay, originally presented as numbers 26 and 28 on Ordnance Survey maps and now used as offices. The house is stuccoed with a slate roof and gabled ends, featuring stacks with rendered shafts. It is built into a steeply sloping site with an L-plan, including a rear left wing.
The original front elevation was symmetrical, with three bays. A central six-panel front door is set within a round-headed recess and is topped by a timber fanlight with spider's web glazing bars. Three first-floor windows have 12-pane timber sashes. The ground floor originally featured a window to the right in a shallow round-headed recess, which has been reglazed with a later two-pane sash. A ground-floor window to the left has been enlarged into a transomed plate glass shop window. The left return includes one 12-pane sash window, and a later lean-to has been added to that side. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain period features of interest, and the building shares details with the neighbouring property at number 36.
