Description
30 The Terrace is a terraced house currently used as offices, dating from the late 1820s to early 1830s. The exterior features roughcast, likely originally stuccoed, with a slate roof and stacks that have rendered shafts. It has a cast-iron gutter and is built into sharply sloping ground, forming an L-plan with a rear left wing and a small rear courtyard.
The building has three storeys and a three-bay front, which includes a projecting cornice with a raised blocking course at the center. The front doorway is located to the left and has a doorcase with pilasters and sunk panels. The entrance features a four-panel front door flanked by glazed side panels and an overlight. The ground-floor windows are 12-pane sashes, while the first-floor windows are 6 over 9-pane sashes, each with architraves that have sunk panels and floating cornices supported by consoles. The second-floor center window is a 12-pane sash, but the outer windows have been replaced with 20th-century casements. A continuous first-floor cast-iron balcony displays an anthemion pattern, and the first-floor windows still have scalloped fascias for blinds. Inside, there is a stick baluster stair.
