Description

39 Milton Street is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private dwelling. It likely dates from the 18th or 19th century and appears to have been constructed in two distinct phases. The building features solid rendered walls and has slated roofs, with the street-facing range having a hipped front. The rear range includes a large chimney on the ridge, which has a tapered cap.

The plan consists of a rectangular block that faces the road and has an early to mid-19th century appearance, with its front door oriented towards Milton Street to the east. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window east front. The late 20th century glazed wood door is located to the right. The windows are two-paned sashes set in box frames, each sash featuring a single horizontal glazing bar.

The side wall facing the street has a wide opening at the left end, which contains a half-glazed wood door and a two-light wood casement window. Above this opening is a two-paned sash window with upright glazing bars. The rear range has a two-light wood casement window on each storey facing the street, with six panes per light on the ground floor and two panes on the upper floor. To the right of the ground floor, there is a small late 20th century window with a transom light. In the east-facing gable, there is a ground floor window with a three-light wood casement, where the two right-hand lights each have two panes.
