Description
47 Milton Street is a house located in Higher Brixham, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with some superficial remodeling in the 18th or 19th century. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble, with old slate hanging on the front upper part of the left side wall. It features a thatched roof and has a large stone rubble chimney with offsets on the left side wall, as well as another stone rubble chimney on the rear wall to the right. The house is two storeys high with a garret and has three windows across the front. The central doorway has a late 20th-century wooden door and head. The windows are three-light wooden casements with 20th-century leaded glazing, while the upper storey frames are older and feature L-hinges. There are two dormers with casements that match those below, and the thatch sweeps over the tops of the dormers. Although a 1975 listing description mentions that the house was rebuilt in the 1930s, it still retains much of its original exterior work.
