Description

Cherry Orchard House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. The main part of the building likely dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, while there is an 18th-century wing on the right at the front and probably a 17th-century range at the rear. The structure is built of reddish-brown brick in English bond, with ashlar dressings on the right range, and features timber-framing with painted brick nogging on the rear range, topped with plain-tile roofs.

The exterior of the main range has two storeys, attics, and a basement on the left, with three first-floor windows. To the right is a single-storey, single-bay range with an attic, and there is a range at the rear of this. The main entrance is accessed by two steps and features a six-fielded-panel door with a fanlight, fielded-panel reveals, and a doorcase with engaged fluted Doric columns and an open pediment on brackets. The ground floor has two three-light wooden mullion-and-transom windows with metal casements. The first floor has a central two-light window flanked by three-light casement windows, all set under elliptical arches with sills. The roof is gabled and includes three roof dormers with casement windows.

The right range features a stone plinth, quoins, and a tooled cornice, with a six-over-six sash window and a roof dormer with a casement window, all under a gabled roof that is hipped at the front. There is an end stack on the left and a massive stack to the right of the main range, which also connects to the right rear timber-framed range. The interior has not been inspected.
