Description

Yew Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th century with a 19th-century brick front. The building features small timber framing with reddish brick nogging on the left side at the rear, while the front facade is made of red brick laid in English garden wall bond, topped with a plain-tile roof. The structure is T-shaped in plan and consists of a three-unit range.

The exterior is a single storey plus attic and has a three-window range. The entrance, which is off-centre to the right, features a plank door within a moulded surround adorned with foliate decoration in the spandrels. It is sheltered by a gabled brick porch that has bargeboards and a finial. The entrance is flanked by three-light wooden casements set under cambered brick heads, with a similar window to the left. The gabled roof includes three gabled dormers with bargeboards and finials. There are also two diagonal brick stacks on the ridge, with the right end stack being off-centre. The left gable features an oriel window with a hipped roof.

Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams made from roughly-hewn timbers and exposed joists. Some partition walls display small square panels of timber framing. The first floor continues this theme with exposed timbering in the partition walls, along with original purlins and wall-plate visible.
