Description

Hall End Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with later additions and alterations, including a 19th-century rebuild of the right gable-end wall. The structure features close-studded and small timber-framing with arched braces, reddish-brown and painted brick nogging, and a brick facade on the right side, topped with plain-tile roofs. It has a three-unit plan with a cross-wing.

The exterior is two storeys high and has four first-floor windows arranged in a 2:2:1:1 pattern. There is a gabled two-storey porch at the angle between the main range and the projecting wing, which contains a part-glazed four-panel door. The windows are two- and three-light casements, some equipped with external latches. The farmhouse has a ridge stack with four diagonal shafts and an internal stack on the left side.

Inside, the farmhouse showcases extensive timber-framing, with chamfered beams in most rooms featuring run-out and ogee stops. In the main (right) room, the beam has bolection moulding, and the joists are exposed. There are two inglenook fireplaces back to back, each with bressumer beams that have roll-moulding and run-out stops. Some of the doors are eight-panel doors.
