Description

Rose Cottage is a small house dating from the 1840s, located on Beach Road in Babbacombe, Torquay. It is part of a group of picturesque houses built on a steep, wooded cliffside above Babbacombe beach. The house has a symmetrical three-window facade. Its construction includes a single-depth main block with two rooms, a central entrance, and a hipped thatched roof with rendered chimney shafts at each end. The front has a two-leaf door with a fanlight featuring spoke glazing bars. There are two ground-floor casement windows and three first-floor casement windows. The first-floor windows have diagonal glazing bars in the head, replacing the leaded glazing noted in a previous listing. A replacement timber verandah with a slated roof extends across the front of the building. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of interest.
