Description

No. 15, Madrepoare Road is a house, dating from the late 1840s or early 1850s, that has been converted into flats. It is located in Torquay. The house is stuccoed and has a hipped tiled roof with stacks featuring rendered shafts and moulded cornices. The plan is of a double-depth design, two rooms wide, with an entrance on the left side of the building. The rear of the property was built directly against a cliff wall.

The exterior presents three storeys, with deep eaves and sill bands on the first and second floors. The symmetrical front elevation has three windows, with a central front door. Each floor features 12-pane sash windows. The rear elevation includes second-floor access to a modern addition. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of interest. The house occupies a prominent location, demonstrating a characteristic Torquay building practice of constructing houses close to the valley rock faces on which the town is built.
