Description

This is a sign post located approximately 40 metres east of The Drum Public House in Torquay, dating from around 1934. It was designed as part of a scheme by Sir Edwin Lutyens for The Drum. The sign post is made of timber and features chamfered and stopped edges, supporting a cross beam. One end of the beam has a shaped wrought-iron bracket, from which the sign hangs. The sign itself features a painting of Drake's Drum by Dame Laura Knight. This sign post is part of a particularly attractive group of listed buildings in the well-preserved village and nearby Cockington Park.
