Description

This signpost, located at the junction with the B1326, dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and is painted black and white. The signpost features a tapering circular shaft that supports a drum, which is moulded at both the top and bottom. Attached to the shaft are arms indicating directions to Shankhouse (2¼ miles), Morpeth (9½ miles), Cramlington Station (2¾ miles), Earsdon (3 miles), and Whitley Bay (5½ miles). The signpost is topped with a moulded conical finial. It stands as an isolated example of an earlier generation of signposts.
