Description
The garden wall, gate piers, and gate located to the south-south-east of Ardvar date from the 1870s and are contemporary with the large villa Ardvar in Torquay. The walls are constructed from local grey limestone rubble, while the gate piers are stuccoed. The garden walls feature toothed capping and curve towards the gateway, which has square gate piers on plan. Each pier has a deep, plain plinth and a moulded oversailing cornice. The gate itself is made of timber, featuring diagonal bracing below the middle rail and round timber verticals with finials above the middle and top rail. The standards of the gate have obelisk finials. This structure is included for its group value with Ardvar.
