Description

Warberries Nursing Home is a villa originally built around the 1860s, now functioning as a residential home. It was previously known as Audrey Court and is shown on the OS map under that name. The property is said to have originally been one unit with the adjoining Dunstone. A large 20th-century extension has been added to the left side. The building features plastered walls and a slate roof, with stacks that have rendered shafts and cornices.

The villa has a long, irregular double-depth plan, with a 20th-century entrance located to the left of the center and an axial corridor leading to the stairs. The exterior is two stories high with an asymmetrical three-window front. The main block has two windows and is slightly advanced to the right, featuring an open pediment above the left-hand window, supported by paired pilasters on either side. The windows are tripartite, reglazed 20th-century timber with sunblind fascias below pediments on consoles. There is a French window on the ground floor to the right, also with a sunblind fascia. Above, there is likely an Edwardian bay window with a dentil cornice and pediment, along with a balustraded balcony supported by large, decorated cast-iron brackets.

To the left, there is a set-back, lower-roofed block that includes a 20th-century recessed porch and a window alongside it. Above this porch is a canted bay window that leads onto a balustraded balcony. Inside, the property retains original joinery and plaster cornices. It is noted that the original building was erected by General Redvers Buller in 1868.
