Description

Wellswood Manor is a large villa dating from the 1840s, originally built as a double-depth main block with a rear service wing. The house has been divided into flats. The south front is symmetrical, with a three-bay design, the central bay slightly recessed between gabled outer bays. It features deep eaves and verges with paired, moulded brackets. The exterior details include rusticated quoins, bands at the eaves and verges, and a platband. There are three windows on the ground floor, with stuccoed sills, and a blind window on the first floor, also with a stuccoed sill. A stucco wreath is present in the right-hand gable. To the right of the main block is a single-storey projecting block with a moulded cornice, parapet, and canted bay windows. The east-facing entrance elevation is also three bays, with the centre bay broken forward and gabled, displaying similar detailing to the south front, including a projecting porch with corner pilasters, an entablature, and a parapet. The front door has a plain overlight. A service wing, set back to the right, is in a similar style, and includes a gabled wing to its right. The interior has not been inspected but may contain noteworthy features.
