Description

The Bennett monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 22 metres northwest of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base, along with plain quarter balusters. There are inscription panels on all sides, with paired panels to the north and south, commemorating John Bennett, who died in 1828, and other family members. This monument is part of a group of three Bennett monuments; the second is approximately 3 metres to the north, and the third is about 2 metres due west.
