Description

This garden ornament, located about 50 metres east of Battlefields House, dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. It features a pointed arched recess that stands approximately 3 metres high, topped with a bell-shaped design. The ornament includes paired jamb shafts that have stiff leaf capitals and moulded bases. The arch is hollow chamfered and adorned with foliate pendants, while a foliate frieze and moulded cornice complete the design. At the top, there is a moulded finial. The rear of the ornament has five sides constructed in ashlar.
