Description
The Bennett monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 25 metres northwest of the west porch of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Tormarton. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base, along with plain quarter balusters. There are inscription panels on all sides, with paired inscriptions to the north and south dedicated to Nicholas Bennett, who died in 1823, and other family members. This monument is part of a group of three Bennett monuments, with the second located about 3 metres due north and the third about 2 metres due east.
