Description

BADMINTON C.P. STATION ROAD (east side) ST 8082 Barn and attached Stable, Cartshed, 12/75 Workshop, Engine and Dog Kennel 5 yards to north of Badminton G.V. Farmhouse II

Barn, stables and outbuildings. Late C18 and mid C19. Coursed squared rubble; Cotswold stone slate roof. Traditional Cotswold type barn. 2 porches with hipped roofs and square headed carriage entries. Lean-to at side of porch; between the porches is a mid C19 stable with a pitched roof which has a raised, central timber louvre and a 2-light casement window on a gable over a central plank door. At the north end of the barn is a cartshed and workshop with a loft over; 2 dormer windows and an external staircase on the west gable. The rear elevation of the barn has a lean-to porch to the left and a gabled porch to the left. Adjacent to the left porch is an engine house with an inner chimney. South gable: a flight of 8 steps leads to a loft in the barn; dog-kennel below the flight; slit vents. Interior: 10 bays with a queen post roof.
