Description

The building is a single-storey range of stables, barns, and a blacksmith's shop, forming a quadrangle around a courtyard at Stable Court, Badminton House. It is dated "1878" on the southeast outer gable and is likely designed by T.H. Wyatt. The structure features coursed rubble with freestone dressings and Cotswold stone slate roofs. Each range has a single storey with a loft above. The central advanced gabled section includes panelled doors with overlights in bolection moulded surrounds, similar doors can be found elsewhere on the building. Above the doors are keyed circular windows in the north and south gables, along with the ducal arms in the east gable. The windows are glazing bar sash types set in plain stone surrounds and under relieving arches.

The south range has eleven bays with doors located to the right and in the second bay from the left. The east range consists of seven bays and features a covered way leading to the coach house on the left. The north range also has eleven bays, with doors positioned to the left and in the second bay from the right. The west range is a two-storey barn that includes a gabled pigeon loft topped by an open octagonal lantern in the center. It has three doors and a lean-to pentice supported by chamfered wooden piers, along with two-light casement windows on the outer elevation. There is a covered way leading to Shop Lane on the left, which has an arched entrance with a moulded archivolt, keystone, and imposts. Additionally, a covered way extends from the west elevation of the west range, connecting to another barn with a hipped roof.
