Description
The garages and enclosing wall, along with the gate piers and gates, are located immediately to the south of the servants' wing at Badminton Park. These structures date from the mid to late 19th century and originally served as coach houses and coachmen's rooms, now repurposed as garages.
To the west and east, there are two ranges of coach houses made of ashlar stone, featuring a coped parapet and three segmental-headed coach houses with plank doors. There is also a covered way leading to the stables in the western range. Connecting the two ranges to the south are two single-storey rooms, flanked by walls that include two sets of gate piers and three gates. The walls are constructed from coped squared rubble, and the buildings feature 4-pane sash windows.
The gate piers are rusticated with a moulded cornice, and the outer pair has chimneys while the inner pair is topped with iron lanterns. There are outer pedestrian gateways and a large set of central cast iron gates.
