Description

Numbers 97, 99, and 101, including 99A and 101A, are two houses located at the end of a planned terrace in Durnford Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth. These buildings date from the late 18th century and have been combined to function as flats. The left side features slate hanging on studwork, while the right side has render that replaces the original stucco on studwork. The roof is made of dry slate and has a hipped end on the left, with a rendered stack in the center and a large brick end stack on the right.

The houses are three storeys tall with a basement and each has a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century horned sashes with glazing bars. There is a pilastered doorway on the left-hand return and at the front, which is topped with an open pediment over a blind cobweb fanlight. The doors are panelled with fielded panels on the reveals.

The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. These houses are part of a planned late Georgian street that was laid out in 1773. Number 97 was first listed on October 13, 1975.
