Description

A pair of town houses dating from the late 18th century, located on Durnford Street in Stonehouse, Plymouth. The houses are stucco-faced with stucco detailing, and have a dry slate mansard roof hidden behind a stuccoed parapet featuring a moulded cornice. They are built on a double-depth plan, with a front room on the right and an entrance hall on the left of each house. Each house is three stories high plus an attic, and has a three-window facade. The windows are 20th-century sashes with glazing bars. A sill band runs along the first floor, and round-arched panels contain first-floor sashes and doors, each with overlights and panelled doors. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to contain features of interest. The houses are surrounded by a shallow forecourt with wrought-iron railings set on a low plinth. The buildings form part of a planned late Georgian street layout from 1773.
