Description

Number 90 is a late 18th-century house situated within a planned terrace in Stonehouse, Plymouth. It was altered in later times. The house is constructed of stucco and has a dry slate roof concealed behind a balustraded parapet with a modillion cornice, with a brick stack on the right-hand side. It follows a double-depth plan, with a reception room at the front on the right and an entrance hall on the left. The property has two storeys plus an attic over a basement, and features a three-window front. Three original or 19th-century hornless sash windows remain, alongside later four-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows are set within moulded architraves, while the ground-floor windows have hoods supported by consoles. A quoin strip runs along the right-hand side, with alternating vermiculation. The doorway has a pediment supported by reeded pilasters, and is flanked by panelled reveals. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to contain noteworthy features. The property includes a low plinth on the basement wall topped with wrought-iron railings featuring urn finials, and steps leading up to the front door. Number 90 forms part of a planned late Georgian street layout, which was designed in 1773.
