Description
There are two monuments in the churchyard, located 2 and 5 metres south of the Church of St. John. The Brookman monument is an 18th-century chest tomb, with the earliest date being 1756. It is made of limestone and features garlanded angle pilasters, a central cherub, and fruit pilasters, along with further cherubs on the east end face. There are two inscription panels on each side and one on the west end, with florid italic script on the north panels. It has a moulded cornice and a cyma recta slab. The Watts monument is a 17th-century chest tomb, with the earliest date being 1625. This monument is badly decayed and has a blockish shape, with inscription panels on all faces except the south. The north face features incised capitals with a date of 1762, while the west face has 17th-century lettering with the earliest date. The slab is deeply chamfered and broken at the west end.
