Description
The gatepiers and gates located south-east of Churchill Court date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The gatepiers are made of dressed stone blocks, while the linking walls are constructed from coursed rubble with stone copings. There are two flanking piers, each standing 1.5 metres high, which are connected by curving quadrant walls to the taller gatepiers that rise to 2.5 metres. The piers feature moulded bases and pyramidal caps, while the gatepiers also have moulded bases topped with ball finials. The gates consist of two leaves adorned with an intricate foliage pattern.
