Description
West End Farmhouse is a late medieval farmhouse that has been altered since the 16th century, giving it a modern appearance. It features rough cast rendered rubble and double Roman concrete tiles. The building has a cross passage plan with two rooms and is partly two storeys and partly one storey, with a total of four windows on the front, which are modern casements. The right-hand bays have three dormer windows in the attic, while the left-hand bay is from the 19th century and has a five-bay return. The central entrance has a six-panel door beneath a 20th-century gabled porch.
Inside, the main part of the farmhouse includes an east (left) room that has a deep chamfered beam and a double ogee moulded stone fireplace. Another chamfered beam is visible in the cross passage. On the first floor and in the roof, there are two crucks, which are likely raised, each featuring a mortice and tenoned collar and saddle at the apex.
