Description
Godfreys is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a roof that was raised later and was enlarged in the 20th century. It features a colourwashed random rubble exterior and a shallow pitch double Roman tiled roof, with brick stacks at the gable ends and to the left of the cross passage. The building has a plan consisting of two cells and a cross passage, with a two-storey outshot included within the original roof space, which was enlarged by one bay on the left in the 20th century.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has four bays, with many-paned casements from the 19th century. There is a plank door located in the second bay from the right, and a raking buttress at the junction of the addition on the left. On the left return, there is a reused 16th-century five-light octagonal mullioned window in the 20th-century addition.
Inside, there is a plank and muntin screen in the cross passage, although other interior features were not observed. It is said to contain evidence of a jointed cruck truss roof and an unusual lateral division of the bay to the left of the entrance into two cells.
