Description

Bridge Farmhouse and Barn is a farmhouse that dates from the 14th century, with alterations from the 16th century and additions from the late 18th century. It is built of coursed and squared rubble, featuring tile and double Roman tile roofs, some with coped verges, and one topped with a floral finial. The building originally had an open hall house layout, which later evolved into a cross-passage plan, with an 18th-century wing added that faces the road.

The 18th-century section is two storeys high and has two bays, with 16-pane sash windows set in edge-moulded stone architraves. There is a door opening to the right, also in a similar architrave, topped with a triangular pediment on console brackets. The door is a six-panelled design, with the top two panels glazed. The earlier range at the rear is of lower height, consisting of a single storey and attic, featuring two and three-light casements, and a three-light stone mullioned window on the right return, complete with a dripmould.

Adjacent to the farmhouse is a single-storey barn with a pantile roof, which projects at right angles to the right of the main building. Inside, there is a fireplace with a broad wooden bressumer, and the roof construction consists of two-tier crucks that show signs of smoke-blackening.
