Description
Chapel Cottage is a late 18th-century building that was originally a chapel and is now a house. It is constructed from coursed and squared lias rubble and features a pyramidal slate roof with a brick stack at its apex. The building has a square plan and exhibits Gothick architectural style.
The entrance elevation has two storeys and two bays, with stone two-light pointed arch windows that include a central dividing mullion and cusped Y-tracery, all framed by an arch tripmould. The central door opening is pointed-arch shaped and set in a chamfered stone surround, also with a tripmould, leading to a plank door. Above the first floor, there is a freestone tablet with a bolection-moulded surround, an ogee head, cusping, crockets, and a finial, featuring a relief carving of a lamb with a flag. The rear elevation is designed in a similar style. There is a single-storey lean-to extension to the south, but this is not considered of special interest.
