Description

Yarberry Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, which was refaced and extended in the early 19th century. It features rendered and painted rubble with pantile roofs, raised coped verges, brick stacks, and stone ridge tiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with four windows. The central entrance has a six-panel door beneath a flat porch supported by plain columns. There are four-light transmullioned windows with casements, and two hipped dormers with six-light glazing bar sashes and weatherboarded cheeks. To the right, there are two windows, the first in a two-storey extension and the second in a single-storey extension. The left gable has six-light casements, and there is a single-storey extension under a catslide roof. At the rear, a central two-storey gabled wing has irregular windows with casements.

Inside, the rear wing features chamfered beams, an inglenook with a chamfered bressummer and a bread oven, a spice cupboard, and a display cupboard. The left rooms of the front block have very deep chamfered beams, and the centre ceiling is framed. The ground level at the rear is higher than at the front. At the junction of the two blocks, there is a two-storey dog leg staircase with a heavily moulded handrail and square newels, although the balusters are missing.
