Description
Cadbury Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the early 17th century, featuring a later 17th-century rear wing. The building was refronted at a right angle to the original range in the early 19th century, with further alterations made thereafter. It is constructed of rubble and rendered, topped with a pantiled roof that has brick ridge and gable stacks.
The original layout was a three-room plan with a passage and a rear wing, which may have originally served as a stable. The 19th-century front elevation is two storeys high and has four windows. The ground floor includes two 16-pane sash windows and a central panelled and glazed door with a triangular hood supported by wooden piers. Above, there are three 12-pane sashes beneath the eaves, and a bay to the right features a similar 12-pane sash.
The left side of the building has a blank main gable end, with a two-storey block attached to the left that has a three-light casement window on the first floor. The rear wing, which was formerly the front, has a door with strap hinges in a plain frame and a two-light casement to the left, along with two additional two-light casements beneath the eaves. The rear gable end of the wing features a large external stack with an oven at its base and raised verges.
On the right side, there is a former stable door with strap hinges and a ventilation grille. The gable end of the early rear wing has a 20th-century two-light casement on the ground floor and a 19th-century two-light casement on the first floor, with a glazed porch attached to the right. The rear of the early range has been extended to a single-storey level, featuring a half-glazed door in a porch and a three-light 20th-century casement, along with a small single-storey addition to the right that includes a door and a four-pane light.
Inside, the end room on the left has deep-chamfered and stopped beams, while the roof over the early range is said to contain curved principals. There is a straight staircase from the 19th century, and the front rooms display features from the same period.
