Description

Rock House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rubble with rendered surfaces and limestone dressings, topped by a pantiled roof featuring ridge and gable stacks. The building has three storeys and six windows, all of which are plate-glass sashes with segmental heads. The windows on the second storey are smaller, and the ground floor to the left has 20th-century garage doors that have replaced windows. A fine porch features engaged Ionic columns and an open pediment with modillions, leading to a six-panelled door with a fanlight that has radial glazing bars. To the right of the porch, there are half-glazed double doors beneath a glazed roof supported by a wrought iron trellis. The house also includes a plinth, band courses, quoin strips, a parapet, and a cornice. On the left side of the building, there is a two-light casement window with leaded lights on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected but is said to contain good original features, including a cupboard with shaped shelves.
