Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of painted rubble with pantile roofing and brick stacks. The building follows an L-plan with a cross passage. It is two storeys high and has two bays, with a central door. Modern casement windows are visible. The entrance is via a plank door with strap hinges, set within an ovolo moulded frame. The cross passage contains a chamfered beam and a blocked winder stair. The west room contains moulded beams, an 18th-century panelled overmantel, a shell-headed niche (possibly a spice cupboard), and a chamfered four-centred arch leading to the rear wing. The east room features a very large stopped chamfered beam and a late 17th-century panelled cupboard in the south wall. The rear wing also has chamfered beams. A detached kitchen block is situated nearby.
