Description

Wisteria Cottage and the attached workshops to the north are located in South Perrott and date from the 17th century, with 19th-century window features. The cottage has rubble-stone walls and a thatched roof with gable ends and block ridging, along with a brick stack at the right-hand gable end. It is two storeys high and has three to four windows. The ground floor features one three-light stone mullion window, which has been renewed, and two-light wooden casements with glazing bars. There are sash windows at the right-hand end. The front door is centrally located, recess-panelled with two large lights from the 19th century. There is also another door to the right with four recess panels and a wooden lintel above.

The attached workshops include a saw-pit with weatherboarded walls and a Roman-tile roof, constructed in the 19th century. There is also a combined wood-store, penthouse, and forge, which are all from the 19th century. The wood-store has open-fronted access, while the penthouse features a brick floor and a rebuilt roof structure. The forge has an earth floor with rough cobbles and retains its anvil, bellows, and forge. These workshops were the premises of E G Daw, who was recorded in 1795 as an agricultural carpenter and wheelwright.
