Description

Wisteria Cottage and Gassons View is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It is dated 1714 on a shaped tablet at the center of the main wing, with a slightly later 18th-century wing projecting to the right. The earlier part is constructed of coursed rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof with flanking rubble stone chimneys, one of which has been partly rebuilt in white brick. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays.

It has three-light stone mullion windows that have recessed hollow chamfering and Tudor hoodmoulds, containing old metal casements with single horizontal glazing bars. Each bay has a door in a chamfered stone surround; the left bay features a flush-panelled door with a stone slab hood supported by shaped stone scroll brackets, while the right bay has a six-panelled top-lit door. There is a single attic light in the left gable end, and a slight bulge from an oven projection in the right gable end.

The later wing to the right is narrow and made of dressed stone, also with a stone slate roof and a brick chimney. This wing is two storeys high and has one bay of two-light barred wooden casements in recessed chamfered stone surrounds with Tudor hoodmoulds on the left return. The rear of the building includes later wing and lean-to extensions.

Attached to the front of the property are early 19th-century fences made of upright rectangular limestone slabs, approximately one metre high.
