Description

The Scott Arms, including the outbuilding on the left, is a public house located on West Street in Kingston. It dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and features rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof. The building has hammer-dressed ashlar stacks, with one at each end and two intermediate stacks. It is two storeys high and has a gabled porch with a stone slate roof and a battened door. The ground floor has six sash windows with glazing bars, each set under segmental stone arches. The first floor has seven similar windows. At the rear, there are two two-storeyed gabled projections built in the same style, with a flat-roofed section between them. There are various attached outbuildings at the rear, which are now incorporated into the public house. Inside, there is one large open fireplace with a timber lintel. The outbuilding at the left end, likely a former stable, is connected to the main building by a gate. This outbuilding has rubble stone walls and a stone slate roof, is single-storey, and features a ledged door and two shuttered windows.
