Description
Farriers Cottage is a small, early 19th century cottage situated in a terrace on the south side of West Street, Corfe Castle. It was originally part of a larger grouping and is located approximately 30 yards southwest of the Scott Arms Hotel. Constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof, the cottage was likely two dwellings with an associated outbuilding. The left section of the cottage has an original door opening now filled with glazing. The ground floor features two casement windows with glazing bars, each set beneath a segmental stone arch. The first floor has two horizontally sliding sash windows with glazing bars. A 20th century rear extension has been added, constructed in matching materials. The right section of the cottage sits at a slightly higher level and incorporates a 20th century part-glazed door. The ground floor here has two casement windows with glazing bars, set beneath stone lintels. The first floor includes a similar 20th century casement window. At the right end of the building is a pair of timber garage doors.
