Description
No. 2, including the front boundary wall, is a semi-detached cottage located on West Street in Kingston, dating from the mid-19th century. The cottage features rough ashlar walls with ashlar dressings and a slate roof with coped gables and gabled apexes. A stone stack is positioned on the ridge, with the upper section made of ashlar, vertical grooves, a moulded cap, and a blocking course. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the building has one storey and an attic.
At the left end, there is a slightly projecting gable that includes a 4-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor and a similar 2-light window in the attic, both with casements featuring a centre horizontal bar. Overlapping the junction of the gable and the main range is a gabled porch with a flush panel door set in a pointed arched opening, along with a vent slit above the door. To the right of the porch, the main range has a ground floor 2-light stone mullioned window with casements that also have a centre horizontal bar. The front boundary wall is constructed of rubble stone and features square piers topped with pyramidal caps.
